Nicole Kidman Involved in On-Set Car Crash

Actress Nicole Kidman was involved in a car crash Thursday while filming the upcoming science fiction movie, "The Invasion." Kidman was riding in a Jaguar for a scene, which was being filmed at 1 a.m. in downtown Los Angeles. As the camera rig in front of the car rounded the corner, her car skidded out of control and smashed into a lightpost. The crash was captured by several cameras. The Oscar-winning actress, along with seven crew members and stuntmen, some of whom had been clinging to the car's roof, were taken to the hospital. As bad as the crash looked, Warner Brothers officials say that, amazingly, only two people were injured, both slightly. Kidman was taken to the hospital, but was quickly released. This isn't Kidman's first on-set mishap. She banged her knee and cracked a rib while filming the song-and-dance extravaganza "Moulin Rouge." Some of her other red carpet compatriots who have suffered for their art include Charlize Theron, who hurt her neck shooting "Aeon Flux" in Germany. Halle Berry injured an eye making while making "Die Another Day" and whacked her head on a lighting fixture during the production of "Catwoman."

Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman Fall in Love All over Again

The Aussie power couple have certainly had their share of rough spots since their romantic wedding in late June. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were used to the paparazzi crush, but when the country music legend hit a rough patch and entered rehab in October many wondered if the young marriage could take it.

The came a host of incendiary charges from a model named Amanda Wyatt that ranged from wild unprotected sex with her to drug use by Keith and this model. Those charges were basically ignored by the couple while Keith concentrated on treatment and Nicole concentrated on support for her man. *** That appears to have paid off. A report from American magazine Life & Style Weekly has an item in this week's edition that says the still newlyweds are falling in love all over again. A chatty friend of Nicole's tells the weekly entertainment magazine that they are determined to reinvent their seven month marriage. The source adds, "They now know they need to rebuild trust, keep on top of his recovery program, and attend counseling." According to the friend that should not be a problem as they are "100 percent committed." *** That was quite apparent when Keith first spoke out as he left rehab. “My wife stayed extraordinarily strong and loving,” Urban said in a video statement posted online.

Actress Nicole Kidman, others hurt on movie set

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and seven other people suffered minor injuries on a Los Angeles movie set on Thursday when her car crashed into a light pole during filming, police said. Kidman, who was behind the wheel of a Jaguar rigged for filming when it struck the pole, was examined at a local hospital after the incident, Los Angeles Police spokeswoman Karen Smith said. Smith said seven other people on the set of the alien thriller The Invasion went to local hospitals complaining of injuries after the 1 a.m. crash but that none were seriously hurt. Warner Bros. Pictures, the studio behind "The Invasion," confirmed that Kidman was taken to the hospital after the crash but said she was quickly released and would be back on set when filming resumed later on Thursday. "No other actors were involved in the scene at the time of the incident," Warner Bros. said in a written statement. "Two additional crew members sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision," Warner Bros. said. "The production took the appropriate steps following the incident to ensure the safety of cast and crew." There was no immediate explanation for the discrepancy in the number of injured listed by the police and the studio. Smith said the Los Angeles Police Department would likely conduct a routine traffic accident investigation and that a state workplace safety agency might also respond. She could not confirm a report by Us Weekly magazine that Kidman's car was being towed by a rig at about 45 miles per hour, with zombie-like characters hanging off the hood, at the time of the crash. Kidman, who was raised in Australia, won the Academy Award for best actress for her role as writer Virginia Woolf in The Hours. The 39-year-old film star, who split from actor Tom Cruise in 2001, last year married country singer Keith Urban in Sydney, Australia. She stars opposite Daniel Craig in The Invasion, playing a Washington, D.C., psychiatrist working to solve a mysterious epidemic.

Being chased by aliens, crashing into a pole and making a visit to the hospital – it’s all in a day’s work for Nicole Kidman. Paramedics were called to the crash scene to check those involved in the accident over. The actress and seven other crew members, stuntmen and cameramen, where taken to a hospital for examination. After being examined at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Nicole was released a short time later. "Nicole Kidman was in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. She was released shortly thereafter," Warner Bros. said in a statement. Production continued after the crash, according to Warner Bros., while Nicole was expected to resume filming the next day. The Oscar-winning actress stars as psychiatrist Carol in the new science fiction thriller “The Invasion”. Her character discovers the origin of an alien epidemic and finds that her young son could be infected. Nicole’s co-stars are Daniel Craig (the latest James Bond) and Jeremy Northam (“Where the Truth Lies”). Joel Silver is producing the movie, set for release in Australia in September. When Nicole’s car crash took place, she was filming a scene which involved an escape from 5 zombie-like creatures (stuntmen) who were on the hood of the car. “The Invasion,” a re-make of the 1956 classic “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” is the highest paid role of the Australian actress’s career. Her $US17 million pay cheque makes Nicole Hollywood's highest-paid actress, dethroning Julia Roberts. It was only days ago that Nicole’s husband, country singer Keith Urban, posted a video message on his website in which he thanked Nicole and his fans for supporting him while in rehab. He was apparently on set when the accident occurred. It was reported at the beginning of January that Nicole would produce and star in a big screen version of David Lindsay-Abaire's award-winning play “Rabbit Hole”. The play focuses on the ways in which a happily married couple deals with the tragic death of their young son. Nicole and Lindsay-Abaire have collaborated previously. He has writing credits for “The Golden Compass.” Filming for the movie began in September 2006, in Great Britain. Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman, Dakota Blue Richards and Eva Green play the main characters. It will probably be released this year, in December.
