Mandy MooreMandy Moore struggled with depressionBeing a 22-year-old actress and singer while trying to juggle a social life can be a bit overwhelming for any celebrity, but if you happen to be Mandy Moore it’s enough to send you spiraling into a depression. According to The Associated Press, American Dreamz actress Mandy Moore admitted to Jane Magazine in a recent interview that she's been battling depression, "A few months ago I felt really low, really sad. Depressed for no reason. I'm a very positive person, and I've always been glass-half-full, so it was like someone flipped a switch in me. I wanted to figure out why." Given her busy schedule with the upcoming comedy, “Because I Said So,” plus working on a new album and two high profile break-ups with Scrubs star Zach Braff and pro tennis player Andy Roddick, it isn't hard to see what brought on Moore’s depression. However, Mandy reveals further that the relationship issues only added to her already low feelings, "The breakup added to what I was going through, but it's not the complete reason. It definitely doesn't help if you're already in that place ..." Although Mandy Moore could benefit by seeking professional help to deal with her problems, Moore hasn’t slowed down and is currently in Woodstock, New York working on her latest album, which she admits is good for the soul, being "away from friends in L.A. or New York." In the Jane interview, Mandy goes on to reveal that the writing process is also helping her to work things out, "Writing has been really therapeutic. These little nuggets that have come up over the past eight months have made me look at things in a different way." In terms of looking at things differently, Mandy Moore also looks at the music of her early days in more of a critical manner, "I feel bad that people wasted their money on such trite, blah pop music." Interesting, indeed! However, looking to the future, Mandy Moore may take some much-needed time off from work to reflect on where she is and where she’s been. If her last comment in the Jne interview is any indication, that may be exactly what she'll end up doing. "I've been going through this really crazy time in my life -it's what I imagine people fresh out of college go through. I'm asking myself life-altering questions, like `Who am I? Where do I fit in this world? What am I doing, what do I want to do? Am I living to my full potential?'" Mandy Moore rose to fame in 2000 with her debut album “So Real” while her two follow-up albums “Mandy Moore” and “Coverage” set her on the path to becoming a huge American pop star. Not satisfied with just a music career, Mandy Moore branched out into acting and landed a role in 2002's A Walk to Remember, which lead an MTV Movie Award for Breakthrough Female Performance the same year. Moore's other film credits include, Final Fantasy VII, How to Deal, Chasing Liberty, Saved, and American Dreamz. In addition to the new album she is currently working on, she is also involved in the upcoming films, Because I Said So, and License to Wed. In 2000 Mandy Moore was romantically linked to Wilmer Valderrama until their apparent split in 2002. Moore then began to date tennis star Andy Roddick, which lasted until 2004 when Roddick ended the relationship. Moore has also dated Scrubs star Zack Braff and the current rumors are that Mandy is seeing DJ Adam Goldstein. Mandy Moore Depressed, Regrets Making Bad MusicSinger/actress Mandy Moore has recently been struck with a nasty case of the blues. According to Newsday, the 22-year-old shared the bad news with Jane Magazine: "A few months ago I felt really low, really sad. Depressed for no reason … I'm a very positive person, and I've always been glass-half-full. So it was like someone flipped a switch in me. I wanted to figure out why." It’s not because she starred in the painfully unfunny satire American Dreamz. Or even because her upcoming movie Because I Said So with Diane Keaton looks like the second coming of Monster-In-Law. Could it be because she and Scrubs goofball Zach Braff recently took a road trip to splitsville? "The breakup added to what I was going through, but it's not the complete reason … It definitely doesn't help if you're already in that place." Being bummed is a bummer, and I think it takes some balls for her to come out publicly and talk about it. Even if she decided that Jane Magazine was the best outlet. In an effort to improve her state of mind, Moore is working on a new record and she says that writing has been therapeutic for her. She also wants to apologize to fans for her earlier music which, like the rest of us, she is trying to forget. "I feel bad that people wasted their money on such trite, blah pop music," she says. Because I Said So opens Feb. 2, and her soul-cleansing new CD should be coming out at some point this year. Mandy Moore has revealed that 2006 was a sad year for her but she doesn’t really know why. The pop-star-turned-actress told Jane magazine recently that she felt “really low, really sad” for most of last year but couldn’t put her finger on the cause. “I’m a very positive person, and I’ve always been glass-half-full. So it was like someone flipped a switch in me.” Mandy, who split from boyfriend of two years Zach Braff in June, added that she’s been writing songs and poems to help her deal with her blues: “Writing has been really therapeutic. These little nuggets that have come up over the past eight months have made me look at things in a different way.” She is currently rumoured to be dating Adam Goldstein, aka Nicole Richie’s ex DJ AM, after the pair have been spotted out and about together on several occasions recently.
