Kylie MinogueKylie Minogue cuts short comeback tour performance due to flu, publicist saysLONDON: Australian singer Kylie Minogue was forced on to cut short a performance on her comeback following treatment for breast cancer because she was suffering from flu, her publicist said. The London-based diva managed to perform only half of a scheduled 2 1/2-hour concert Saturday evening in Manchester, northern England, spokesman John Bills said. "Several members of the crew, the tour manager and Kylie have been suffering from flu — but she didn't want to let anyone down. She wanted to try to get through the show, but had to cut it short," Bills said by telephone from Manchester. He said there was no connection to Minogue's recovery from treatment for breast cancer, which led to a year-and-a-half career hiatus before a comeback tour that began in Sydney, Australia, last November. Minogue, 38, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005. She underwent successful surgery in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia, that month, followed by five months of chemotherapy in Paris. Kylie Minogue leaves stage during England performance because of fluLONDON (AP) — Kylie Minogue cut short a performance Saturday night on her comeback tour because she was suffering from the flu, her publicist said. The London-based singer, who underwent treatment for breast cancer in 2005, managed to perform only half of a scheduled 2 1/2-hour concert in Manchester, England, spokesman John Bills said. “Several members of the crew, the tour manager and Kylie have been suffering from flu — but she didn’t want to let anyone down. She wanted to try to get through the show, but had to cut it short,” Bills said by telephone from Manchester. He said Minogue’s decision to leave the stage was not related to her recovery from breast cancer, which led to a 1 1/2-year career hiatus before she launched her comeback tour in November in Australia. Kylie Minogue Might Be Forced To Interrupt Her TourAfter leaving the stage in the middle of a show and ending it after only one hour of performing due to flu, it is yet unknown whether Kylie Minogue will be canceling further concerts. The pop singer pulled out of her concert at Manchester's MEN Arena on Saturday halfway through, and apologized to her fans for having a cold and could not carry on. "Several members of the crew, the tour manager and Kylie have been suffering from flu _ but she didn't want to let anyone down. She wanted to try to get through the show, but had to cut it short," John Bills, her publicist, said by telephone from Manchester. As planned, her sister Danni joined her on stage for the finale duet before the former Neighbors star made an early exit from the stage. The singer is currently on her Showgirl Homecoming tour which was postponed when Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent successful surgery in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia, followed by five months of chemotherapy in Paris. She resumed her tour in November 2006. Bills insisted that her retreat from the stage had absolutely no connection to her recovery from cancer which led to a 1 1/2-year career hiatus before she launched her comeback tour in November in Australia. "We are still waiting to see what is going to happen for the rest of the tour. There are four dates left in Manchester. "Kylie is suffering flu, as are other members of the tour group, including her manager. It is not linked to her breast cancer," he said in a statement. Audience members at last night’s show noticed that the singer was suffering a heavy cold. “I saw her here on Friday night and last night. She was with quite a few people. They looked like they could have been dancers,” a source said. “She did not look too ill but I don’t suppose I was looking too closely.” BBC News website quoted Kathyrn Scott, from Halifax, who went to Saturday's concert, as saying she was "disappointed". "I don't even think she was actually on stage for an hour, as she kept going on and off for long breaks. "She just said to us 'don't worry, I've just got a cold', but obviously she couldn't go on. "She was obviously full of cold, and none of us would want to perform if we felt like that. Everyone was fine about it, we just clapped, because we all know how ill she has been. "I wish she had just cancelled altogether. I feel she was forced to go on and do the four songs so they wouldn't have to give refunds." However, Wayne Warby of Blackburn, Lancashire, wrote on the Manchester Evening News website that Kylie remained the “ultimate showgirl”. He said: “What a triumphant return. Although you could tell Kylie was suffering from a sore throat, this didn’t dampen the mood or the performance one bit.” A MEN spokesman said they had so far not been told that she won’t be able to perform and were therefore advising fans the shows were still set to go ahead until they heard more.
