Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez reality show auditions descended into chaosJennifer Lopez's new reality show auditions descended into chaos on Friday (19.01.07) when two animal rights protesters stormed the stage. The singer-and-actress is producing reality show 'Glow After Dark' to promote her new perfume of the same name, but protesters from PETA gatecrashed the auditions at a California branch of US department store Macy's. One protester took the stage, pretending to audition, and said: "I think the most important thing about being a diva is not only being sexy and being stylish, but is not wearing real f***ing fur! You're such a fur-cat J Lo." She was dragged off stage by the presenters while a second protester jumped on stage brandishing an anti-fur poster and chanting "J. Lo ho!" J. Lo is auditioning for five girls to live as divas with a VIP lifestyle for two weeks in a swanky New York apartment while cameras record them 24-hours a day. The star was not present at the audition but she and a panel will choose 100 hopefuls from the audition tapes to compete to appear in the final. Human Rights Group Slams Diamond Lovers Beyoncé & Jennifer LopezSuperstars Beyoncé Knowles and Jennifer Lopez have been criticized by human rights campaigners after the pair agreed to wear diamond-encrusted jewelry to promote the gemstone industry at last week's Golden Globes. The celebrities were asked to brandish the jewels as part of the Raise Your Right Hand campaign - the industry's attempt at combating the negative publicity brought on by the release of Leonardo Dicaprio's new film Blood Diamond - in exchange for a $10,000 donation to an African charity of the stars' choice. The movie is set during Sierra Leone's diamond-fueled civil war, where DiCaprio plays a South African mercenary on the hunt for a rare pink gemstone. However, pressure groups such as Global Witness, whose Combating Conflict Diamond Campaign highlights the role of the jewels in funding wars, have called upon Hollywood to stop the distasteful promotion of the precious gems, because of the way African rebels used amputation to terrorize civilians in the search for conflict diamonds. Global Witness campaigner Alex Yearsley says, "It's rather disgusting if you think about Sierra Leone and the hands that got hacked off there. It's an attempt to hit back at the film. You can imagine the PR campaign that came up with it. But the industry didn't do much for the Sierra Leonean women with no right hand when all this was going on." PETA Going Undercover For Jennifer Lopez Perfume Launch?Jennifer Lopez’s fur-wearing ways may receive a little more spotlight time today if PETA’s covert actions pay off. The animal rights group is planning on infiltrating a contest offered by JLo in conjunction with the launch of a new perfume, ‘Glow After Dark’. Lopez is holding a media event for the launch in which women have a chance to be named the new ‘Glow Girl’. From the article, ” Sources say PETA intends to plant a member of their organization within the throngs of other women who hope to win an appearance on Lopez’s online project, ‘The Glow After Dark Show’. This isn’t the first time JLo has come under attack from PETA - the singer uses fur in her clothing lines and wears it herself - and often. She wore fur to a Golden Globe after-party on Monday night.” Love it! Lopez has been pretty much immune to the criticism heaped on her for wearing animal fur — it might make her think a little more about the practice if PETA manages to pull off an embarrassing moment. We’ll keep you updated on what goes down; but in the meantime, we’re wondering if PETA has any plans for Beyonce as well. We’d assume they would try the same thing, but if Beyonce releases another album, would anyone bother to show up? Jennifer Lopez Perfume Launch Threatened By PETAMembers of animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are planning to disrupt Jennifer Lopez's fragrance launch tomorrow in protest against her use of fur. A promotional event is being held for the star's latest perfume, Glow After Dark, at Macy's department store in Downey, California. According to E Online, PETA plans to cause a stink by planting a member among the crowd of young women vying to be named a "Glow Girl" and hoping to win an appearance on Lopez's online project, the Glow After Dark Show. It is not clear if Lopez herself will actually be attending the event. PETA has frequently targeted the singer for wearing fur and using it in her clothing line. Lopez was spotted wearing a furry frock at Prince's Golden Globe Awards after-party on Monday night. A representative for PETA claims the group has alternative plans in case their faux Glow Girl is discovered, saying, "If her cover is blown, you can be sure that PETA has something else up its sleeve. It's all part of PETA's relentless campaign to campaign to convince the Monster-In-Law star to stop flaunting pelts."
