"I love being involved in the glitter and glamour of Hollywood during award season," said Neil Lane, owner of Neil Lane Jewelry in Los Angeles. "Being able to participate in a program that gives back makes what I do with diamonds all the more rewarding." Raise Your Right Hand Ring for Africa is part of the diamond industry's ongoing efforts to raise star-powered support for important projects and causes that are vital to the continued prosperity of key diamond-producing nations around the world, particularly southern Africa. The tradition started four years back. The DIC has invited Hollywood's leading female nominees and presenters to proudly wear a Diamond Right Hand Ring on this year's red carpet for any of the 2007 awards shows: Golden Globes, 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards or Academy Awards. A $10,000 donation will be granted in their name to a special project or cause of their choice benefiting Africa. The diamond industry hopes to generate up to $100,000 in donations through Hollywood ladies for important social projects or causes in Africa during the 2007 award season. News Copyright © Sawf News. Jennifer Lopez Gives Protestors The Fabulous Hand

Jennifer Lopez has surely become American royalty. Worth millions, she has her iced-out hands in several projects, from her upcoming film (featuring husband Marc Anthony) “El Cantante”, to producing her in-the-works TV show to her clothing lines. But not everyone is happy to see J-Lo coming. Add to the hot-and-bothered list some very tenacious human rights organizations who find fault with the tracks running the J-Lo express to fabu-ness.

If you’ve seen Jennifer in person or in the mags, at the podium or in the parlor, you can bet you’ve seen some seriously expensive bling. Known as a jewelry aficionado, she’s been especially shiny lately due to her deal with the gemstone industry. Reported at StarPulse, Lopez is taking part in the Raise Your Right Hand campaign, the bauble biz’ battling “Blood Diamond” backlash, as the Leo flick has brought some negative publicity to the jewelry game.

In response, divas such as Beyonce and Jennifer have agreed to rock rocks hoping to restore some luster to the diamond enterprise. Here’s the Yang to this Ying: Global Witness is an organization that highlights illicit use of jewels and conflict diamonds, and they have a big problem with her, among the other stars, that side with the gemstone camp. Global Witness campaigner Alex Yearsley says, "It's an attempt to hit back at the film (Diamond). You can imagine the PR campaign that came up with it. But the industry didn't do much for the Sierra Leonean women with no right hands when all this was going on."

Meanwhile, if the GW people’s anger wasn’t expressed thoroughly enough, you can be sure the people over at PETA got their point across at the California auditions for ‘Glow After Dark’, her upcoming reality show where J. Lo puts five girls together to live as spoon-fed divas in a posh New York apartment while being filmed 24-7. Naturally, those judging possible players were looking for ultra-ohso-ness, but not like this: "I think the most important thing about being a diva is not only being sexy and being stylish, but is not wearing real f***ing fur! You're such a fur-cat J Lo." According to ‘LifeStyle UK’, those were the words of a member of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a protestor in sheep’s couture who crashed looking to lambast J-Lo for her fur-fondness. While security snatched the PETA partycrasher, infiltrator #2 leapt to the stage swinging an anti-fur poster, screaming, “J-Lo HO!!! J-Lo HO!!!”

Although Lopez was not present for the diatribing, one might assume neither hopeful is making it to the finals.
