BeyonceBeyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Patricia Arquette Help Fund African Charities By Wearing Diamond RingsToday the Diamond Information Center (DIC) announced the leading ladies who helped support the "Raise Your Right Hand Ring for Africa" campaign at the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards red carpet, generating $30,000 for three special projects that will directly benefit the people and communities in Africa. The leading ladies who wore a Diamond Right Hand Ring included: Beyonce, 2007 Golden Globes nominee for 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy'; Actress/Singer Jennifer Lopez; and Patricia Arquette, 2007 Golden Globes nominee for 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama.' "Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Patricia Arquette are all shining examples of classy, stylish, smart and sophisticated women," said DIC Director Sally Morrison. "They represent not only the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, but they are superior role models, especially because of their humanity and compassion for those in need, caring for the world we live in and helping to raise money for valuable projects in Africa through the 'Raise Your Right Hand Ring for Africa' program." Beyonce, who wore a spectacular 25-carat grey, yellow and white Diamond Right Hand Ring by diamond jeweler, Lorraine Schwartz is contributing $10,000 to Link-A-Child, a project Beyonce personally visited. Link-A-Child is a not-for-profit organization that serves to care for the more than 7 million child orphans and motherless babies in Africa who are abandoned. Jennifer Lopez, who also wore a 30-carat yellow Diamond Right Hand Ring by Lorraine Schwartz, has not yet disclosed which project her $10,000 will support. Details will be available shortly. Patricia Arquette wore a Platinum, Onyx and Diamond Right Hand Ring by diamond jeweler to the stars, Neil Lane. Patricia is donating the $10,000 generated to CARE International, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. The organization places special focus working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Over the course of the last four years, the Diamond Right Hand Ring has come to represent a woman's independence and prosperity and a symbol of a woman's brilliant accomplishments, personal success, freedom and power in the U.S. Raise Your Right Hand Ring for Africa is part of the diamond industry's ongoing efforts to raise star-powered support for important projects and causes that are vital to the continued prosperity of key diamond-producing nations around the world, particularly southern Africa. The DIC has invited Hollywood's leading female nominees and presenters to proudly wear a Diamond Right Hand Ring on this year's red carpet for any of the 2007 awards shows: Golden Globes, 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards or Academy Awards. A $10,000 donation will be granted in their name to a special project or cause of their choice benefiting Africa. The diamond industry hopes Hollywood's leading ladies will help generate up to $100,000 in donations for important social projects or causes in Africa during the 2007 award season. Miss America Gets Friendly With Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eddie Murphy and BeyoncePosted Jan 25th 2007 5:40PM by Robin Leach Filed under: Casinos, Shows, Luxe Life, Sexy Vegas, Event Finder Arnold Schwarzenegger was the star attraction when the 52 Miss America contestants found him at the Planet Hollywood restaurant in the Forum Shops of Caesars Palace; even though it was only the cardboard version. The bevy of beauties draped themselves around 'The Terminator' during the dinner and surprise dance party that followed; with their chaperones looking on to ensure nothing would get out of hand. Earlier, the gorgeous girls won a special private screening of the hit movie 'Dreamgirls' at the Brenden Theater in the Palms. They gave the film, and its stars Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, a standing ovation! And when Planet Hollywood general manager David Tanner ordered the restaurant's chairs and tables cleared for an impromptu dance floor the pageant princesses really let their hair down. They rushed the floor en masse when Michael Jackson's 'Billy Jean' started to play and they sashayed, slid and shook in a sing-along to Sir Mix A Lot's 'Baby Got Back,' Toni Basil's 'Mickey' and the 'Electric Slide.' "The mood was so vibrant and enthusiastic that even Planet Hollywood's waitresses and cocktail servers joined them on the floor for the shake-a-thon," I was told. "It was the perfect way for them to relax on their last night of freedom on the town before the preliminaries and rehearsals for Monday's live broadcast start today." BEYONCÉ CONTINUES RUN AT TOP OF HOT 100 SINGLES CHARTBeyoncé’s “Irreplaceable” holds the top position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for an eighth straight week after holding off an extremely strong challenge from Fall Out Boy’s “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s An Arms Race,” which enters the chart at No. 2 after 162,000 digital downloads. Fall Out Boy’s No. 2 debut is the best for a band since radio-only titles joined the Hot 100 chart in December 1998 and the download total is the largest opening week for a group since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital sales in 2003. The track also jumps from No. 86 to No. 1 on the Pop 100, knocking “Irreplaceable” to No. 2. “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s An Arms Race” is the first single from the band’s forthcoming album, Infinity on High, which hits store shelves February 6. Nelly Furtado’s “Say It Right” jumps from No. 4 to No. 3, Akon’s “I Wanna Love You” (featuring Snoop Dogg) drops from No. 2 to No. 4, and Jim Jones’ “We Fly High” rises from No. 6 to No. 5. The week’s greatest digital gainer is Doughtry’s “It’s Not Over,” which jumps from No. 21 to No. 6. Other notable debuts on the Hot 100 include Corbin Bleu’s Push It to the Limit from Disney’s Jump In! soundtrack, which debuted at No. 14 and Nickelback’s “If Everyone Cared,” which enters the chart at No. 50. BEYONCE KEEPS CHARGING FALL OUT BOY FROM THE TOPBEYONCE is proving to be untouchable at the top of the US pop charts after landing an eighth successive week at number one. The former DESTINY'S CHILD star's hit IRREPLACEABLE stunned chart watchers when it became the only record to keep FALL OUT BOY's THIS AIN'T A SCENE, IT'S AN ARMS RACE from the top. More than 160,000 downloads landed the punk pop group's new release at number two on the new Billboard chart. But Fall Out Boy won't be complaining - their impressive debut is the highest bow for a band on the chart since AEROSMITH's I DON'T WANT TO MISS A THING crashed in to the top spot way back in 1998. Meanwhile, NELLY FURTADO's SAY IT RIGHT rises to number three. Former AMERICAN IDOL star CHRIS DAUGHTRY's enjoying a good week -after taking his debut album to number one yesterday (24JAN07), the rocker's hit IT'S NOT OVER races up the charts from number 21 to number six. Beyonce joins forces with ShakiraSinger-actress Beyonce Knowles is all praise for Shakira and says she is the perfect person to join her in the female empowerment duet "Beautiful Liar". Beyonce was happy to record the song with Shakira and she is proud of the lyrics, about women coming together to reject the advances of a dishonest lover. Contactmusic.com quoted her as saying: "I've always loved her and I've always wanted to work with her and the song fits perfectly. "It basically talks about two women - the same guy is trying to get at both of them but instead of them fighting, they're saying, 'He's a beautiful liar, let's not fight, let's stick together. Forget him!' I think it's a great concept." Beyonce | Beyonce 1 | Beyonce 2 | Beyonce 3 | Beyonce 4 | Beyonce 6 | Beyonce 7 | Beyonce 8 | Beyonce 9 | Beyonce 10 | Beyonce 11 | Beyonce 12
