FSN's Super Bowl Roadshow Sells Out

Fox Sports Networks’ Best Damn Sports Show Period has sold out of its sponsorships for its 5th annual Best Damn Super Bowl Roadshow, which the network will televise live from Miami for a week prior to the Super Bowl on Feb. 4. Sponsors include Microsoft Windows, Texas Instruments, Keystone, Full Throttle and Hooters.

Each sponsor will have televised commercials and will also have significant brand presence within the shows, allowing advertisers to take sponsorship of segments within the programs each day. Tentative plans call for segments called Keystone Unsmooth Moment and Full Throttle Rebel of the Day.

The show is hosted by Chris Rose, along with regulars John Salley, Rodney Peete, Rob Dibble, Leeann Tweeden, and, during the Super Bowl week, honorary cast member Michael Strahan of the New York Giants. The show will originate at the Surfcomber Hotel in Miami’s South Beach area. Among the guests scheduled are Hall of Fame coach Don Shula, Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward, two-time Super Bowl coach Jimmy Johnson, NFL Hall of Famer Mike Ditka, Hall of Fame quarterbacks Joe Montana and Jim Kelly and soon-to-be inducted John Elway, among others.

Price may be right for me and you, but not Brew crew

Here's hoping Chicago becomes the American representative for 2016 Olympic consideration, defeats the other competitors and the Summer Games come to town -- provided all of us can rent out our homes for roughly a year's worth of mortgage payments.

  • The Milwaukee Brewers are going to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1982 American League championship with a DVD that is to go on sale April 10 for $24.95. Not being a businessman, Quick Hits would have priced the documentary at $19.82.

  • From Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: ''The Blues are offering free food at their game on Jan. 13 against the Kings as a way to get to know new coach Andy Murray. The drinks are free, but I think they may charge to use the restrooms.'' Somewhere a Blackhawks official is in awe of an organization that could come up with such a creative approach about a new coach.

  • New Alabama football coach Nick Saban and wife Terry donated a $100,000 check Tuesday night to Alabama's scholarship fund at halftime of the Crimson Tide's basketball game against LSU. ''I can't tell you how pleased, proud and excited we are at being your coach at Alabama,'' he told the sellout crowd. Almost as good as being able to write a $100,000 check and feeling little, if any, financial pinch.

  • In his first talk with Sports Illustrated in 10 years, Texas Tech basketball coach Bob Knight admits to having regrets, including staying too long at Indiana. ''The last six years there were not good for me,'' he said. ''At every one of the three schools, I've worked for really good people. But at every one, there's also been a sorry bastard or two. I should have left when the sorry bastards came to power.'' Hey, 10 years ago, Knight probably couldn't have used that language in SI.
