Grey's Anatomy Star Katherine Heigl Slams Isaiah Washington

Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has slammed co-star Isaiah Washington for using a homophobic slur at the Golden Globes on Monday night (15Jan07). The actor tried to set the record straight regarding reports in October (06) he got into a scuffle with Patrick Dempsey after Washington allegedly used a homophobic slur toward their co-star Tr Knight. After a reporter questioned him on the validity of the on-set incident, Washington denied his involvement saying, "No, I did not call Tr Knight a faggot. Never happened, never happened."

Heigl told Access Hollywood reporter Shaun Robinson that she disapproved of his use of the slur when referring to the incident saying, "I'm not okay with it. "I'm going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I'm sorry, that did not need to be said. I just find it hurtful. "I just feel like this is something that should be very much in house we need to deal with and it's among us and the cast and crew and among Shonda (rimes, the show's creator) and the producers." Washington immediately tried to defend himself after making the comments, insisting he and Dempsey have moved beyond the incident. He adds, "I kiss Patrick Dempsey. We purposely sing Ebony And Ivory every night since 9 October (06) and nobody has written about it." (c) WENN

Katherine Heigl Slams ‘Anatomy’ Co-Star for Homophobic Slur

The cast of Grey’s Anatomy should have been on cloud nine—the top ranked show on television took home a Golden Globe for Best Dramatic Series Monday night. But the celebration turned sour when a reporter questioned actor Isaiah Washington on the feud with costar Patrick Dempsey which allegedly resulted in co-star TR Knight feeling forced out of the closet in an interview with People Magazine. “No, I did not call TR Knight a faggot,” he said. “Never happened, never happened.” But co-star Katherine Heigl, who was nominated for a Globe for her work as Dr. Izzie Stevens on the show, told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson she was equally offended by his use of the homophobic slur during his explaination. “I'm not okay with it,” she said backstage at the awards. “I'm going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I'm sorry, that did not need to be said. I just find it hurtful. I just feel like this is something that should be very much in house we need to deal with and it's among us and the cast and crew and among Shonda (Rimes, the show's creator) and the producers.” With the cast allegedly miffed by Washington’s continued reference to the incident, the actor quickly tried to defend himself, insisting he and Dempsey have moved beyond the incident. “I kiss Patrick Dempsey,” he joked. “We purposely sing 'Ebony And Ivory' every night since October 9 and nobody has written about it.” On-lookers said co-star Sandra Oh had to physically prevent Knight from bolting from the stage as Washington spoke and that the majority of the cast looked noticeably uncomfortable.

"Grey's" Katherine Heigl Disgusted by Homophobic Co-Star

LOS ANGELES, LA -- "Grey's Anatomy" star Isaiah Washington managed to use the faggot word again in the Golden Globes press room on Monday night and his co-star Katherine Heigl lashed out at him in disgust. In what he claims was an effort to set the record straight after homophobic remarks he allegedly made against gay co-star T.R. Knight on the set of "Grey's Anatomy" in October, Washington managed to use the faggot word again, saying "No, I did not call T.R. a faggot. Never happened, never happened." Co-star Katherine Heigl, who is also one of T.R. Knight's best friends, was chocked by the remarks. "I'm going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I'm sorry, that did not need to be said, I'm not okay with it," she told Access Hollywood. "I don't think [Washington] means it the way he comes off…But, T.R. is my best friend. I will throw down for that kid. I will beat you up. I will use every ounce of energy I have to take you down if you hurt his feelings," she said. Katherine also said that she believed the comments were really hurtful for T.R. Knight, saying she couldn't see how they could not be under the circumstances.

Grey's Anatomy's Katherine Heigl Scolds Washington for Slur

Whatever the truth is about what happened on the Grey's Anatomy set last October, these Access Hollywood interviews with Katherine Heigl and Isaiah Washington reveal that there's still plenty of discomfort with the situation on that production. Following Washington's Golden Globe red carpet statements I posted about earlier, he was asked about the validity of the incident involving T.R. Knight in the GG press room. Washington responded: "No, I did not call T.R. a faggot. Never happened, never happened." Later, visibly disturbed Grey's co-star Katherine Heigl was asked about his response by Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson. Said Heigl: "I am not okay with it." Heigl then added: "I'm going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I'm sorry, that did not need to be said, I'm not okay with it...I have no idea what it was, I just find it hurtful…I just feel like this is something that should be very much in house we need to deal with and it's among us and the cast and crew and among Shonda [Rimes, show creator] and the producers. I don't think [Washington] means it the way he comes off…But, T.R. is my best friend. I will throw down for that kid. I will beat you up. I will use every ounce of energy I have to take you down if you hurt his feelings...I don't see how [T.R.] could not be [hurt] under those circumstances. Drawing attention to it and saying the word again is just unnecessary." Washington remains vehement that the on-set incident was completely fabricated by the press and goes on to defend himself to Billy Bush and Nancy O'Dell: "There is no way I could do anything so vile, and so horrible, not only to a castmate, but to a fellow human being. It's the truth. It did not happen. I was going to hire some other great shiny publicist, but you know what, God laid it on my heart to say it because it was so close. The reports were all wrong. It did not happen. I'm very disappointed that the New York Post actually wrote legitimately about something that was put in a tabloid about some angry person to get some validity to this, and then it just rippled." Washington also insists that he and actor Patrick Dempsey are the best of friends: "I kiss Patrick Dempsey. We sing 'Ebony and Ivory' everyday since the so-called incident and it hasn't come up. We purposely sing 'Ebony and Ivory' every night since October 9 and nobody has written about it."

Katherine Heigl stars in smart, sexy comedy

LOS ANGELES, CA, (NAMC) - Recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her role on Grey's Anatomy, Katherine Heigl's talent was first noticed in the romantic-comedy Side Effects, which is now available on DVD. "I was fortunate to have landed Katherine right before she started shooting Grey's Anatomy," said filmmaker Kathleen Slattery-Moschkau. "Fans who love her as 'Izzie' will be blown away by her in Side Effects, which is all Katherine, all the time." A smart and sexy film, Side Effects is the story of Karly Hart (Katherine Heigl) who has spent the last ten years selling drugs...legally, that is. She works for one of corporate America's darlings, the pharmaceutical industry. Karly has it all - a big salary, a company car, a closet full of hot business suits and a growing pit in her stomach. Side Effects was inspired by the writer/director's real-life experiences in the pharmaceutical industry. "Side Effects shows off Katherine's full range of talent," said Slattery-Moschkau. "She has a natural gift for physical comedy, but also perfects the dramatic moments."
