CATHERINE Zeta-Jones has spoken of her love of the anonymity offered by her retreat in Bermuda.
The Swansea-born actress told the Welsh press that although she shares homes with husband Michael
Douglas in countries around the globe, they are spending more of their time in Bermuda as they seek to
avoid the unwanted attention of prying paparazzi cameras.
Ms Zeta-Jones has just become a board member of National Dance Foundation of Bermuda and
regularly visits dance classes and workshops.
She told the press that the privacy, golf, sailing and beachfront walks offered in Bermuda have helped
make the island their "virtual permanent home".
Their children Dylan, six, and three-year-old Carys both go to school in Bermuda.
And the actress told a US magazine she loved the "anonymity" of life in Bermuda.
She said, "That's one of the great things about living in Bermuda, where we now spend most of our time.
It's just easy and removed.
"And it's a great place to bring up kids. You should see me taking them to school with my baseball cap
on - but why am I hiding? Nobody's going to recognise me, anyway!
"Recently, I was in Los Angeles and was followed everywhere by paparazzi in cars, which I'm not used
to because in Bermuda, we have nada. I got to the point where just leaving the hotel was making me
nervous - what would happen, what would be said?"
Douglas has extensive family roots in Bermuda. His mother, the actress Diana Douglas, was born here.
And the Dill family she is a member of runs the beachfront Ariel Sands hotel, a complex of 47 pale
salmon-painted cottages with swimming pools, tennis courts and a high-class spa.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas built their Mumbles mansion in 2003. The property is now worth £2.3m. Some of its special features include a slate roof supported by stone pillars, and a balcony with a copper roof specially imported from America. Bermuda Their home in Bermuda is Zeta-Jones and Douglas's principal residence. Life on this island is fairly anonymous for the island's most famous couple.

Boxing sensation Amir Khan today took up one of the most important fights of his life - fighting child cruelty as an NSPCC ambassador. Speaking about the announcement Amir, who is in training for his fight on February 17th at the Wembley Arena, said: "It is an honour to be appointed an NSPCC ambassador and it is a role I will take very seriously.. I am lucky that I have always had friends and family around me, encouraging me to follow my dreams - some children just dream of a life free from abuse and cruelty. I hope my appointment will encourage more children to have confidence to speak out and believe in themselves." NSPCC Director Dame Mary Marsh, said: "We are delighted that Amir has chosen to support us. He has a natural empathy with children and young people and will be a dedicated and hardworking ambassador."
