J.Lo & Beyonce blasted for blood diamond promotion

Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce Knowles have been blasted by human rights campaigners after the stars agreed to wear gemstones to promote the diamond industry at last week’s Golden Globe awards. Lopez and Knowles wore the gems as part of the Raise Your Right Hand campaign, the industry’s attempt to counteract the negative publicity attracted by Leonardo DiCaprio’s new movie Blood Diamond. A donation of $10,000 was made to an African charity of the stars’ choice for wearing the jewels. Human rights groups have attacked J.Lo, Beyonce and Hollywood to stop their distasteful promotion of the gems, because of the way African rebels used amputation to terrorise civilians while searching for their gems. Speaking of the Raise Your Right Hand campaign, Global Witness campaigner Alex Yearsley says: “It's rather disgusting if you think about Sierra Leone and the hands that got hacked off there. "It's an attempt to hit back at the film. You can imagine the PR campaign that came up with it.

Beyonce famously lost over a stone in 10 days for the role thanks to a drastic diet which saw her drink
only maple syrup mixed with lemon juice and water.
The singer was joined at the premiere by co-star Jennifer Hudson.
Hudson's character, Effie, is the most talented singer but is pushed out of the picture by the more
attractive Deena.
In real life, however, the role has been reversed.

Beyonce: "Why I'm Duetting with Shakira"

Ms Knowles tells MTV all about that Shak duet and discusses her new brand of girl power...
Beyonce has revealed details of her highly anticipated duet with Shakira.
Talking to MTV, the 'Deja Vu' diva said she loved every minute of working with the swivel-hipped star
on their new track, 'Beautiful Liar'.
"I’ve always loved her and I’ve always wanted to work with her and the song fits perfectly," she said.
"It basically talks about two women; the same guy is trying to get at both of them but instead of them
fighting, they’re saying, ‘He’s a beautiful liar, let’s not fight, let’s stick together – forget him!’ I think
it’s a great concept."
The track will feature on the re-issued version of Beyonce's latest album, 'B'Day'.
The singer also revealed she's recorded brand new promos for five of the tracks on the long-player -
which could see all those fans incensed by her Deja Vu video (they didn't like Bey's dance routines,
costumes or the flashing imagery!) finally placated with an easier-on-the-eye offering.
Bey said, "(The reissue) is a dual disc – there’s music on one disc and videos on the DVD.
"I’m doing five new videos so I’ll have a video for every song and I’m actually starting on those videos
(this week) and doing them all in seven days which is really crazy. I think it’s a great concept because
people can see my interpretations of the songs when they were written."
The busy lady, in the UK last night (January 21) for the premier of her Oscar-tipped new flick
Dreamgirls, is also in preparations for her B'Day world tour which kicks off on April 30 in Frankfurt.
And it's going to be a totally girl power event by all accounts.
"This tour is exciting as I have an all-female band," she explained. "I held worldwide auditions and
women from all around the world came to five different cities. I narrowed thousands of women down to
ten and didn’t go through agencies because I know there are lots of people who don’t have agents.
"It took a lot of time but I found the most incredible women. I start rehearsing in three weeks and I’m so
in love with performing. I love going on tour and seeing fans we’ve had for almost 10 years."
We can't wait.

BEYONCE SUPREME AT 'DREAMGIRLS' LONDON PREMIERE

Beyonce Knowles sent temperatures soaring at the London premiere of her new film Dreamgirls, despite the chilly weather. Dressed to impress in a shimmering Elie Saab number, the 25-year-old had all eyes on her as she took to the red carpet bare-shouldered and without a coat. "I'm not wearing it for long and it's worth the pain," she joked, when reporters commented on her choice of outfit. Dreamgirls - which is loosely based on the story of the Supremes - has already picked up three Golden Globes and is a hotly tipped contender for the Oscars. "I can't wait to hear what's going to happen with the Oscars. I'm happy already," Beyonce said. The singer wasn't the only person making a stylish impression at the premiere, however. Beyonce's costar Jennifer Hudson, who scooped the best supporting actress award at last week's Golden Globes awards, was elegant in a classic Ben di Lisi gown, while Kelly Osbourne flattered her curves in a full-skirted black wrap dress. Reality TV star David Guest was also among the star-studded audience.
